Unniversal Foods plans ready-to-use food items

Hyderabad , June 20

UNNIVERSAL Foods, a Pune-based subsidiary of the Rs 50-crore Unity Group, is planning to launch ready-to-use sambar, palak paneer and chapathi in pouches with a shelf life of up to one year in the next few months.

The company has entered into an agreement for transfer of technology from DFRL (Defence Food Research Laboratories), Mysore, in this regard.

He said there was a huge demand for such products.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr J.S. Dali, Managing Director of Unniversal Foods, said sambar in pouches of 300 gm and 500 gm would be released in two months.

Mr Dali was in the city in connection with the launch of sales of its range of food products after test-marketing them for six months. The product range includes pickles, sauce, synthetic vinegar and jam.

The company has set its eyes on the African countries and the UK. "We have got orders from Nigeria. We look at tapping opportunities in other African countries as well," he said..
