Union faults SBI Bengal circle on transfer issue

Kolkata , June 21

STATE Bank of India Staff Association has in a statement said that the SBI management is trying to distance itself from the responsibility of transferring its members in violation of norms.

The norms, a note issued by the association (Bengal Circle) said, include Rule 536 of Sastry Award.

"We have been compelled by the management to take an agitational path as all our requests to keep the unlawful orders in abeyance and have a negotiated settlement on the issue have been turned down," the note said.

The approach of SBI's Bengal Circle has stood in the way of normal functioning of 56 branches of the bank.

In similar situations, the managements of Bhubaneswar and Chennai circles had opted for negotiated settlements, the association has observed.
