German consulate in Chennai unveils online visa appointment service

Our Bureau

Chennai , June 22

THE German consulate in Chennai has introduced an online appointment service for visa applications effective from June 27.

According to a release, all first-time travellers who are obliged to file their visa application in person as well as frequent travellers who wish to present their application personally may avail of the appointment service.

The service is open to all categories of visa applications.

Appointments can be booked online with a minimum notice period of one day through the Internet page of the German Consulate-General and will be given on a first-come-first-served basis.

The appointment service is managed by the Chennai-based TT Services.

Appointments can also be booked through TT Services offices throughout South India.

Applicants who need to travel at short notice may also come to the consulate during consular hours with their visa application without prior appointment.

The consulate recommends using the appointment service as only 20 slots daily are reserved for walk-in customers on a first-come-first-served basis.

Frequent travellers can continue to file their visa applications through registered travel agents. In this case, no appointment with the Consulate-General is required.
