The Hindu Business Line : Intransa plans to invest $2 m here

INTRANSA, a US-based IP storage solutions provider, has said that it plans to invest $2 million for expansion in India, including ramping up headcount at its Pune development centre this year.

The company has entered into a strategic software licence/OEM partnership with HCL Infosystems, as part of which Intransa's StorControl software would be implemented on HCL Global Line servers.

This would enable HCL to deliver IP storage area network (SAN) systems powered by Intransa.

"India is a strategic pillar in Intransa's globalisation strategy ... We invested $2 million in 2004 and will put in a similar amount this year," said the Intransa President and CEO, Mr Avi Katz, at a conference.

Stating that 60 per cent of the company's global engineering workforce was in India, he said that the company planned to increase its headcount to 100 in the next six months.

Intransa currently employs 50-60 engineers at its Pune facility, which works on software development.

"We also have some testing engineers associated with Satyam at Bangalore. If needed, we will set up more centres."

Besides Pune, Intransa has development centres in California and Virginia in the US, and in China.
