Rubber Spot rubber down on lack of buyers Our Correspondent
Kottayam , June 23 SPOT rubber prices moved down on Thursday. Most of the grades lost marginally in the absence of quantum buyers from major consuming sectors though there was no considerable selling pressure from dealers or growers. Sheet rubber RSS4 lost 25 paise to close at Rs 60.25 at Kottayam but was flat at Rs 60.50 a kg at Kochi. The futures market turned weak even amidst promising overseas indices. The July contract was traded at Rs 60.70 (Rs 61.23), August Rs 60.70 (Rs 61.23), September Rs 58.50 (Rs 58.94) and October at Rs 57 (Rs 57.60) per kg for RSS 4. The July contract topped in volumes with 433 lots out of 569 lots traded till mid-session. RSS 3 closed at Rs 64.06 against Rs 64.02 a kg at Bangkok The July futures for the same grade improved to 163.1 yen against 161 yen at TOCOM. The spot rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 60.25 (Rs 60.50); RSS-5: Rs 58 (Rs 58.25); Ungraded: Rs 56.25(Rs 56.50); ISNR 20: Rs 56.25 (Rs 56.50); and Latex 60%: Rs 39 (Rs 39).
