Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: Data Infosys Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with the Singapore-based Sky Communications Pte Ltd, and Proxy Solutions, to offer voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services all over the country.

Starting with Jaipur, the company plans to gradually expand its services in various parts of the country. Later this month, Data Infosys plans to roll out its services in Hyderabad.

The Chief Executive Officer of Data Infosys, Dr Ajay Data, in a statement said the cost advantages of Internet telephony are challenging the circuit switched telephone network. Market research indicates that IP is carrying 10 per cent of all international voice traffic and the market is set to grow further. The tariffs work out to Rs 1.42 for one-minute call to the US, UK and Rs 10 to the Gulf. The company plans to offer customised packages for corporates including call centre industry. Given the tariff advantages, international calls will work out on par with local call rates.
