Vishal Retail to expand to 5 cities

VISHAL Retail Pvt Ltd has chalked out an investment of Rs 6 crore and an expansion plan to cover five more cities across the country within the current calendar year.

The company inaugurated its first mall in Pune, its first in the western region. Mr Ramchandra Agarwal, Managing Director, said the company would expand to cities such as Chandigarh, Ghaziabad, Patiala, Surat and Meerut.

The investment of Rs 30 crore for the same would come from financial institutions, he said.

The company had recorded a turnover of Rs 150 crore for the last fiscal ended March 2005.

Located at the KPCT Towers building at Fatima Nagar, the Vishal Mega Mart will give Pune an experience of the latest in the world of fashion and trends.

Mr Agarwal said that the mart, spread over 45,000 sq. ft. carpet area, would be an addition to the 17 fully integrated and self-owned stores the company has in 10 cities across India.

The 6,000 square feet ground floor has life style accessories, mobile phones, fashion jewellery, leather accessories, perfumes and cosmetics.

The first floor, spread across 17,000 square feet has fashion clothes range of men, women and kids.

This includes the company's own brands such as Zeppelin, Kitaan Studio, Paranoia, Chlorine, Fizzy Babe, Jasmine, Zero Degree, Soil and Massa Bay among others.

Besides fashion attires, the floor would also have separate sections for home furnishings, toys and games, and for sports and fitness, he said.

The 22,000-square-feet second floor has supermarket, music stores, household items, home appliances, car accessories, stationery, travel accessories, footwear, hardware accessories and electrical appliances.

The floor would also have a food court that would offer a range of snacks from Delhi chat, bakery products, ice creams, tea/coffee and soups. This section would also have mobile charging corners, Mr Agarwal added.
