Programme on animal survival instincts

Our Bureau

Chennai , June 23

CRIS Cruz, a professional diver, was in a boat off the east coast of Thailand when the tsunami struck. As the sea become more and more rough, Cruz noticed a school of dolphins jumping in front of the boat, and realised that he would have to follow the dolphins to survive. And survive he did.

Similar stories of animal survival instincts emerge from the tsunami-affected countries including Sri Lanka and Thailand.

An Animal Planet team investigated animal behaviour before, during and after the tsunami disaster. These findings will be presented in its premiere programme Tsunami: Animal Instincts on June 27.

The programme will feature videos, stories, interviews with scientists, conservationists, eyewitness accounts and original footage from the tsunami-struck countries. The programme recounts how different animal species sounded the alarm much before the killer waves struck.
