Visakhapatnam , June 24

A REVIEW of the Indian naval fleet by the President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is to be held here on February 12, 2006 according to Admiral O.P. Bansal, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command.

Speaking to newspersons on Friday, Admiral Bansal said that the President reviews the fleet once during his tenure.

The review was held in Mumbai during the past eight occasions; for the first time it would be held here, he added.

"It is a rare honour bestowed on Eastern Naval Command and Visakhapatnam, gaining in importance on all fronts. We are gearing up for the mega event."

He said that 55 naval ships and 45 aircraft would be reviewed by the President at a review anchorage off the Ramakrishna beach.
