Insurance TUs for unconditional talks on wage revision

Our Bureau

Kochi , June 24

THE various general insurance staff unions have urged the General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) not to place any pre-conditions for the wage revision discussions to be held in Delhi next Tuesday.

In the exploratory meeting held on June 16 and 17, instead of coming with concrete proposals on pay scales and other wage-related issues, GIPSA, the apex management body of the public sector insurance companies put forth its organisation agenda as a pre-condition for wage revision talks, Mr P.P. Mohanan, state convenor of the Joint Action Committee of general insurance employees said.

Transfer and re-deployment of staff, reduction in number of categories through amalgamations, restriction of casual leave and increase in working hours were some of GIPSA's proposals, a press release issued here has said.

Now all the unions have jointly written to GIPSA that they are not averse to discussing the issues, but urged that it should not be linked as a condition for settling the long-pending wage revision.
