Spot rubber prices recover marginally

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , June 27

THE domestic spot rubber prices recovered marginally on Monday. The selling, which emerged during the last weekend, slowed down considerably as covering groups and purchase agents turned active expecting the re-entry of major manufacturers with enhanced quotes.

Scattered buying from the non-tyre sector extended further support to the market at lower levels but ISNR 20 lost in the absence of fresh demand.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 60.25 from Rs 59.50 a kg on Saturday.

The rubber futures registered all round gains following promising overseas reports.

The July contract was traded at Rs 60.31(Rs 60.11), August contract at Rs 60.55 (Rs 60.33), September contract at Rs 58.25 (Rs 58.05) and October contract at Rs 57.10 (Rs 56.75) per kg for RSS 4. The market opened better and continued to remain firm with 225 lots in June and 209 lots in July out of 454 lots traded till noon.

RSS 3 improved to 168.6 yen from 165.7 yen a kg at TOCOM July futures and to Rs 64.66 from Rs 64.45 a kg at Bangkok.

The physical rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 60.25 (Rs 59.50); RSS-5: Rs 57.75 (Rs 57.50); Ungraded: Rs 56.00 (Rs 55.50); ISNR 20: Rs 55.50 (Rs 56.00) and Latex 60%: Rs 38.50 (Rs 38.50).
