New Delhi , June 27

MR Karan Bahree — the man in the centre of BPO controversy for his alleged role in `selling' bank account details of 1,000 UK customers to an undercover reporter of British tabloid, The Sun - has purportedly claimed that he was promised a job apart from $5,000 for helping the scribe with the information.

"In an explanatory letter submitted to Infinity before he was fired, Mr Bahree has claimed he was paid the amount for delivering a presentation to UK-based Oliver (The Sun's undercover reporter), which was allegedly arranged by a Mr Fayaz Rizvi who was already working with Oliver," Infinity's lawyer, Mr Deepak Masih, said, revealing the contents of the letter.

The letter by Mr Bahree claimed, "I was introduced to a person called Mr Fayaz Rizvi by an acquaintance called Sameer. Sameer is a casual acquaintance of mine whom I know for the past six months.

"Fayaz told me of a part-time proposal in my free time. Since I have good English communication and writing skills, he wanted me to give a presentation to a UK person - Oliver."

"... When the meetings and payments were over, Oliver offered me a job in his new call centre in Gurgaon. And he asked me to give him my resume, which I did. I was hired only to give a presentation and have nothing to do with this incident," the letter adds.

Officials of The Sun could not be contacted for comments on Mr Bahree's claims.
