A woman working in a floriculture farm at Kochi. The last fiscal saw a boom in flower exports from the country. As per the studies by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, the exports had gone up to Rs 249.55 crore in 2003-04 from Rs 18.83 crore in 1993-94. Major buyers included Britain, Japan and the Netherlands. The area under cultivation has also increased from 53,000 hectares in 1993-94 to 1,03,000 hectares in 2001-02.
