Chennai , June 29

ORACLE India has acquired 30 new clients in the small and medium size enterprise (SME) sector for the special ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution it launched a year ago.

The package consists of Oracle's e-business suite, software, hardware and implementation support, according to Mr Ram Varanasi, General Manger (Sales), Oracle India.

The company hopes to add 100 more SME (companies with revenues of less than Rs 250 crore) customers in the next two years, he told newspersons.

There are around 50,000 SMEs in India, and about 2,000 of them have made an investment in ERP. A third party study says about 500 SMEs plan to buy an ERP solution this year, and this offers enormous opportunity for Oracle to sell its special package, said Mr Varanasi.

The package is offered at Rs 20 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. Additional features cost more.

Of the 250 modules that Oracle has in its entire e-business suite, it has picked up eight key modules that are relevant for any SME, said Mr Varanasi.

According to Mr Varanasi, earlier a customer would have to approach different vendors for a similar ERP package, and the cost to the company could be a couple of crore rupees. However, Oracle has reduced the price to a few lakh rupees.
