Bangalore , June 29

AKAMAI Technologies, a global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, today announced the integration of the Indian operations of Speedera Networks Inc, which it acquired recently. This is expected to help Akamai to enhance its penetration of markets worldwide and expand its focus on global customer services and support.

Mr Paul Sagan, Akamai's Chief Executive Officer, said the stock-for-stock transaction, valued at over $130 million, would augment the company's research and development, besides increasing its business through significant customer acquisitions, including a number of major Indian customers such as Sify, Rediff, NDTV and Wipro.

Akamai provided businesses with a cost-effective distributed platform for accessing Web computing and capacity on demand worldwide without having to make significant upfront investments in infrastructure.
