Standards & Benchmarks Forbes Patvolk gets ISO certification Our Bureau
Kochi , June 30 FORBES Patvolk, the shipping division of the Forbes Group, was awarded ISO 9001:2000 certificate from the Indian Register Quality Systems accredited by the RVA of Holland. This includes all shipping and port related activities for their 24 branches in India. Capt J.C. Anand, Chairman, Indian Register of Shipping, presented the certificate to Capt S.P. Rao, Director, Forbes Patvolk, in the presence of Mr K.C. Mehra, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Forbes Group, a press release issued here said. Speaking on the occasion, Capt Rao had stated that Forbes Patvolk, the pioneers in liner agencies for the last 130 years, has now diversified to becoming shipowners with the purchase of two vessels. To increase the spectrum of services, the company had forayed into establishing its own container line and container yards/freight stations in New Mumbai and Gujarat. The shipping industry, he said, is going through a transition on account of globalisation, thus the concept of quality in service is differentiator. The awarding of the ISO certification would ensure consistent and higher quality standards across the company's shipping activities, he said. Forbes Patvolk was established in 1767. The company covers the entire spectrum of shipping, liner and tramp agencies, shipowning, feedering, multimodal transport operations, freight forwarding, crew management, container freight stations and yard operations.
