Chennai , June 30

BARISTA Coffee Company Ltd plans to set up 70 more outlets in the country with the majority of them being in the South.

Mr Brotin Banerjee, Chief Operating Officer, Barista Coffee Company Ltd, said that Barista has 120 outlets and is present only in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. This year, new outlets will be opened in smaller cities such as Mysore, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam and Ernakulam.

The company, in association with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), will be coming out with outlets on highways called `Barista On The Go.' These will be smaller than the regular 700 sq. ft. espresso outlets.

Barista will also be coming out with a formal coffee lounge format; the first one will be opened in Delhi this month. The total area for a typical lounge ranges from 2,000 to 2,500 sq. ft. The pricing in the lounge will be more on the premium side. The investment would be about Rs 40 lakh, he said.

Barista has tied up with companies like General Electric, Dell and Sapient to set up coffee corners. The company also has the store-in-store format and has tied in with major retailers.

Mr Banerjee said that Barista is also leveraging the IT capabilities of Dishnet DSL and is offering Wi- Fi services in the outlets. He said that the company has two seasonal menus for summer and winter. In line with the consumer trend, Barista has introduced differential pricing in Chennai and Pune.
