Oracle eyeing new `verticals'

ORACLE India is trying to identify new partners in the city.

Its series of wins for the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i has prompted the company to eye the potential of the units in the textile and garment making business and in the auto components space in Coimbatore.

"Our tier I partners in India are mostly in the IT services space. We are now trying to identify tier II partners across different verticals. These partners will help in identifying business opportunities for us. They will liase with the tier I partners," Mr Varanasi Ram Sharma, General Manager (Sales), Oracle India Pvt Ltd, said.

Oracle India has close to ten tier II partners now. It is intent on strengthening its position as a market leader in the SMB segment.

He said the company was in the midst of addressing specific functionalities and components issues for the SME units located here.

It has re-configured its software to suit the SME sector, as a large percentage of its clientele were mid-companies, he said.
