New Products & Services Hind Insecticides launches premium range bio-fertilisers, bio-pesticides Our Bureau
Kochi , June 30 TARGETING increased application in commercial crops such as ginger, cardamom, banana, coconut and rubber, Hindustan Insecticides Ltd has launched premium range of bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides. According to Mr Rajendra Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director of HIL: "These bio-fertiliser and bio-pesticides not only play a vital role in maximising the yield, but also help in improving the quality of crops and ensuring a longer shelf-life." These crops were identified since they are sensitive to chemical pesticides and fertilisers, and one wrong application can damage a whole crop. If used properly, bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides can effectively control the various diseases in these crops. The range of premium bio-pesticides that have been introduced into the market includes Daman, Sanjivani, Suraksha, while the bio-fertilisers includes Premium Azospi, Premium Azoto-Plus and Premium Phosphofix. Elaborating on the various advantages of bio-fertilisers, Mr Mohan said they help in enhancing the plant growth by releasing vitamins, auxins and hormones. They also hasten seed germination, flowering and maturity of crops, while reducing the dependence of chemical fertilisers over a period of time. Control of soil-borne microbial diseases of crops and improved physical, chemical and biological properties are the added features of the products. The products are also pollution free as well as user and eco-friendly, without any adverse effect on soil fertility and plant growth, and would be required in very small quantities, Mr Mohan said. Sanjeevani is an eco-friendly bio-fungicide containing the spores and enzyme complexes of Trichoderma. It is effective against a whole range of plant pathogenic fungi. Also, it is effective in controlling root, collar and stem rots, as well as against damping offs, leaf blights and spots of paddy and cotton, a press release issued by the company has said. Daman contains spores of Beauveria bassiana, a naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus that affects insect pests. It is an effective remedy against larval and pupa states of a wide range of insect pests, the release added.
