Aurobindo Pharma turnover, net down

AUROBINDO Pharma Ltd (APL) reported a drop in both turnover and net profit for the financial year 2004-05.

While the turnover stood at Rs 1,159.2 crore during the year , down from Rs 1,341.1 crore the previous year, net profit dropped to Rs 35.1 crore from Rs 127 crore .

The company board, which met on Thursday, reviewed the audited financial results for the year and recommended a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent on the equity share capital of the company, i.e. Rs 0.50 per share subject to approval of members.APL has registered a consolidated net profit of Rs 5.3 crore on a total income of Rs 1,416.7 crore for the fiscal 2004-05, showing a drop in the net from Rs 106.8 crore on a total income of Rs 1,586.9 crorefor the previous year, according to a press release.

The regulated market initiatives, which included record approvals, Drug Master Files (DMFs) and Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) on an accelerated basis, impacted the profitability in the short term, the company said.

For the quarter ended March 31, the company gave the unaudited results, which shows a net profit of Rs 3.90 crore on a turnover of Rs 285.60 crore against a net of Rs 36.22 crore and turnover of Rs 363.07 crore in the comparative period of the previous fiscal.
