Natco Pharma posts Rs 15.13 cr loss in Q4

NATCO Pharma Ltd (NPL) has suffered a major net loss in the quarter ended March 2005 and a significant fall in net profit for the fiscal.

For the quarter under consideration, the company suffered a net loss of Rs 15.13 crore on a turnover of Rs 47.22 crore. In the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, it posted a net profit of Rs 1.1 crore on a turnover of Rs 42.76 crore.

For the fiscal ended March 2005, NPL posted a net profit of Rs 1.56 crore down from Rs 8.71 crore in the previous fiscal.

However, the company recorded a significant growth in turnover at Rs 181.39 crore (Rs 153.82 crore).

The city-based pharmaceutical company has attributed the fall in profits mainly due to the writing off of Rs 23.44 crore of doubtful debts and advances in the books of accounts for the fiscal 2004-05.
