Alex Wilcox quits Kingfisher Airlines

Our Bureau

Bangalore , July 4

BARELY two months after take-off, Kingfisher Airlines, a UB group enterprise, will see the exit of its expat Chief Operating Officer & President, Mr Alex Wilcox.

The airline's officials today said Mr Wilcox had tendered his resignation citing "personal reasons," but his papers have been kept in abeyance.

A top UB official told Business Line: "Mr Wilcox attributed the decision to his family's difficulties in settling down in India. We have kept his papers in abeyance as we hope that he would be able to resolve the personal problems."

UB said a decision on finding a replacement to Mr Wilcox will be taken shortly once the resignation becomes formal.

Mr Vijay Mallya, UB group Chairman, had roped in Mr Wilcox, a former JetBlue honcho, late last year to spearhead the operational management. The airline operates multiple flights daily on Mumbai-Bangalore and Bangalore-Delhi sectors.

UB rejected industry speculation that Mr Wilcox is exiting the company following differences with Mr Mallya on operational management issues.
