Cement majors post 10 pc rise in June shipments

THE domestic cement majors have reported shipment increase of 10 per cent for June.

Associated Cement Companies has reported a 10.5 per cent increase in despatches.

The company sold 14.74 lakh tonnes last month against 13.34 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

Production at the company rose by 9.96 per cent, to 14.45 lakh tonnes from 13.14 lakh tonnes.

Despatches from Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd rose 10 per cent year on year — from 9.87 lakh tonnes to 10.87 lakh tonnes. Production too, rose 10 per cent at the company, to 10.89 lakh tonnes, up from 9.87 lakh tonnes.

The Aditya Birla Group, which did not provide a break-up of despatches from its individual companies, has reported that group despatches rose by 9.79 per cent in June.

Despatches from Grasim Industries and UltraTech Cement amounted to 22.62 lakh tonnes. Production totalled 22.85 lakh tonnes, showing a rise of 13.49 per cent.

Cumulative despatches for the April-June quarter at ACC rose 10.6 per cent, to 45.68 lakh tonnes, up from 41.27 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Group despatches from the Aditya Birla Group for the corresponding quarter rose 11.24 per cent, to 72.18 lakh tonnes, up from 64.88 lakh tonnes.
