Advertising Ifra meet to focus on improving ad revenue Our Bureau
Chennai , July 6 IMPROVING advertising revenues and attracting readers will be among the topics covered by the Publishers Forum this year at the Ifra India 2005, the 13th annual Ifra conference in India. Ifra is an association for newspaper and media publishing headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, with the Indian subsidiary at Chennai. It acts as a platform for decision-makers from the newspaper industry. The Publishers Forum, started at the last year's Ifra conference, is set to be the highlight of Ifra 2005 to be held in Delhi on September 21 and 22, according to a press release from Ifra. Industry leaders such as Mr Robert Thomson, Editor, Times, London; Mr Pichai Chuensuksawadi, Editor in Chief, Bangkok Post, Thailand; Mr Garbis Kesisoglu, Media Consultant, Hurriyet, Turkey; Mr Mike Blinder, President, Blinder Group, USA; Mr Mario Garcia, CEO and Founder, Garcia Media, USA; Mr Tariq Ansari, Managing Director, Mid-Day; Mr Vivek Bali, Senior Vice-President, Marketing, AirTel India; and Mr Ashutosh Srivastava, CEO, Mindshare India will share their expertise in the Publishers Forum. The event includes parallel learning seminar forums and an expo at the same venue. A technical forum will discuss issues such as Digital Advertisement Transmission, Computer to Plate Technology and Press Consumables. On September 20 two pre-conference workshops on mobile publishing for newspapers in India and on new press technologies will precede the conference. Mobile publishing business workshop, being organised for the first time in India, will explore how newspaper publishers can use the mobile as a platform and profit from this medium. The event will bring the mobile telephone companies, gadget manufacturers and publishers together to promote opportunities for sharing their experiences. An expo of over 30 display booths for the international and domestic suppliers to showcase their product offerings to the newspaper industry will also be organised. Some of the international suppliers are: Agfa, Goss, Kodak Polychrome Graphics, Muller Martini, PPI Media GmbH, Quark and Siemens. Ifra has more than 2,200 members from 66 countries. Its main task is to assist the members to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology. Ifra India has about 35 members including leading publications.
