Chennai , July 7 TVS Srichakra Ltd, two- and three-wheeler tyre manufacturer, has launched seven tyres for the aftermarket, a segment in which it hopes to increase its share. The seven tyres - described the Magnificent Seven - have names such as Jumbo, Crusader, Terminator, Dragon and Octavia for motorcycles and mopeds, and Badshah and Josh, for autorickshaws. Mr S. Balasubramanian, Vice-President, Marketing, TVS Srichakra Ltd, told a press conference that the company hoped to attack the aftermarket in a big way, where it wanted to increase its share from 12 per cent to 20 per cent. After Chennai, the seven tyres wouldbe launched in Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi cities with a large two-wheeler population, according to him. In Chennai, the company would have billboards, events in shopping malls and take up about 4,400 seconds of radio time. TVS Srichakra hoped to increase its exports from 15 per cent of sales to 40 per cent this year. It had entered the North and South American markets with tyres for off-highway vehicles. It would increase its capacity of six lakh tyres a month by 15 per cent. It would also launch wider tyres - of 140 mm width. Mr Balasubramanian said TVS Srichakra was a major original equipment supplier to TVS Motor Ltd, Hero Honda, Yamaha and Bajaj Auto. Sales to original equipment manufacturers accounted for about 60 per cent.
