Toll collection opposed

Our Bureau

COIMBATORE: The State Lorry Owners' Federation-Tamil Nadu (SLOF-T) has opposed the collection of toll from vehicles using the Hosur-Krishnagiri stretch of National Highway 7 that forms part of the Golden Quadrilateral.

In a statement issued at Namakkal, Mr P. Sengodan, President, SLOF-T, said the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) and the SLOF-T had opposed an earlier move to levy toll on vehicles using this road and the Government put off the move. But collection of toll has been introduced now.

Mr Sengodan hoped that AIMTC would take steps to stop the toll collection and that SLOF-T would support any agitation launched by the transport congress.
