AP CM seeks Israeli investments in infrastructure, telecom

Hyderabad , July 8

THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has invited investments from Israel in infrastructure, missile technology and telecommunications.

He extended this invitation during a meeting with prominent entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Israel in Jerusalem. The State Government had recently signed a series of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various national and International brand leaders in the market.

Dr Reddy said that MoUs were signed with Brandix Lanka Ltd, Jindal Group and Hitech Textile Park whereby employment opportunities in the State were likely to shoot up considerably.

The CM urged the Tahal Engineering Group, Jerusalem, a world leader in water management systems to come to AP to study various techniques to meet the increasing water demand by industries in major cities.

He said the State Government wants to strengthen the industrial base for economic development and to provide employment opportunities on a large scale. Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has already communicated that it will double the present production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes at Visakhapatnam Plant.

One more 1000MW coal-based thermal power plant at Visakhapatnam will come up in all likelihood. Also allotted 1,000 acres of land to the Brandix Lanka Ltd, (A garment manufacturing company) in the same city. Keeping the water requirement for industries in view, the Chief Minister has invited global leaders such as Tahal Engineering company to study the feasibility of water management systems, either through desalination of water, recycling of water and sewage treatment to meet the industrial requirements.

In a presentation, officials of Tahal Engineering Company explained to the CM the company's progress in water management system in various States in India such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Govt of AP, the CM said has recently announced an "attractive industrial policy which is progressive and promising in nature". Water and power supply will be provided to industries at internationally accepted prices, he pointed out.
