Advisory panel on monetary policy set up

THE Reserve Bank of India has set up a technical advisory committee on monetary policy with external experts.

The terms of reference of the committee are to review macroeconomic and monetary developments and to advise on the stance of monetary policy, RBI said in a release on Friday. The committee, headed by the RBI Governor, has four external members. The Deputy Governor in charge of monetary policy will also be a member of the committee.

External members include Mr D.M. Nachane, economist and professor at the Indira Gandhi Institute for Development & Research, Mr S.S. Tarapore, former RBI Deputy Governor, Mr R.H. Patil, Chairman, Clearing Corporation of India Ltd. and Mr Shankar Acharya, honorary professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations.
