Bank credit up

MUMBAI: Gross bank credit increased by Rs 11,197 crore for the fortnight ended June 24 to touch Rs 11,61,387 crore, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which decreased by Rs 945 crore to touch Rs 44,804 crore, and non-food credit, which increased by Rs 12,142 crore to touch Rs 11,16,583 crore. The total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper increased by Rs 54,142 crore to touch Rs 12,07,515 crore.
