Rural health project inaugurated at Madurai

MADURAI: A public-private model partnership project— `DISHA (Distance Healthcare Advancement)' — to deliver healthcare services to rural communities was inaugurated in the city recently.

A business plan conceived by Phillips India, DISHA is a tele-clinical van for providing telemedicine under the joint initiative by Phillips India, India Space Research Organisation, Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation of Apollo Specialty Hospital, Madurai and Development of Human Action Foundation, an NGO-based in Madurai, with each playing the role of a strategic partner bringing in their capabilities to deliver the project's aims. The project is to be implemented in Kadamalaikundu block in Theni district on a pilot basis.
