APSRTC talks deferred as Minister falls ill

Hyderabad , July 11

THE proposed talks between the Andhra Pradesh Government and employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) have been deferred to Tuesday.

The talks, which were to begin on Monday following the High Court direction, could not take place as Mr S. Santosh Reddy, Minister for Transport, fell sick.

The Cabinet Sub-committee, which was formed to sort out the issue, and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of RTC trade unions had agreed to hold the crisis in detail for three days, beginning Monday.

As part of the agreement between the two sides, a workshop would be held on July 17 at Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). The workshop would be coordinated by Mr Gautam Pingle. Experts from Andhra Pradesh and outside would discuss the issues that dogged the corporation.

Meanwhile, two more members - Mr K. Vijayakumar (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) and Mr Eshwar Rao (APSRTC Supervisory Staff Association), were included in the 11-member JAC.
