Bharatmatrimony.com launches marriage bureaus

Our Bureau

Chennai , July 14

BHARATMATRIMONY.COM Pvt Ltd, the online matchmaker, is launching a network of marriage bureaus, BharatMatrimony Centres, which will offer matchmaking services offline.

Announcing the launch of the network with the first bureau being set up here today, Mr J. Murugavel, Chief Executive Officer, BharatMatrimony.com, said that it plans to set up over 300 such BharatMatrimony Centres in India and abroad.

The company would directly set up a few such centres and the rest would be through franchisees who would have to invest about Rs 4 lakh to Rs 7 lakh a centre. The partners would share the revenue equally, he said.

In India, BharatMatrimony centres would come up in Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. By setting up a brick-and-mortar chain, the company is extending its reach to a wider segment of customers who are not Internet-savvy, he said.

Initially, the company would start with a database of 75,000 profiles of prospective brides and grooms. A client walking into a centre will have to register to be put in BharatMatrimony's database and depending on the fee, goes through the database to shortlist prospective matches.

The entry-level fees of Rs 1,250 gets a 3-month membership and entitles the customer to 40 profiles that they can shortlist after going through the database. For Rs 2,150, the membership period is six months and they get 90 profiles. The premium fees of Rs 5,800 get the customer a nine-month membership and 200 profiles.

Customers can use the services any number of times during the membership period, he said.

The new business builds on the brand that the company has created online, he said. BharatMatrimony.com has a database of over 7.5 million and is a trusted name, said Mr Murugavel.
