Human Resources Training can boost company returns, says expert Our Bureau
Bangalore , July 14 TRAINING activities in the Indian corporate sector are yet to get their due, with training being placed just a notch above corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. According to Mr Mahan Tavakoli, Vice-President and Managing Director, International Business, Dale Carnegie Training, companies should start connecting training and development to specific business outcomes that will allow them to get better return on investment (ROI) in the area. Speaking at the launch of the company's Bangalore operations, Mr Tavakoli said India was a "growing market and with this growth comes a responsibility to keep us on a par with the best in all systems, processes, production, distribution, for having a competitive advantage." He also felt that this was the right time to start training activities because companies are competing globally and competitive advantage does not necessarily mean only cost advantage. Dale Carnegie Training India, which already has presence in Delhi and Mumbai, offers both corporate solutions and open programmes in the areas of leadership, sales, interpersonal and communications skills. Dale Carnegie programmes are brought to India in partnership with Walchand Capital Ltd. Ms Pallavi Jha, Managing Director, Walchand Capital and Dale Carnegie Training India, said "Dale Carnegie Training has the necessary wherewithal owing to its close to 100 years of experience in the field of human resource enhancement." The company's clients in India include Tata TeleServices, Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, Standard Chartered, Wipro, Tata Honeywell, Microsoft and Oracle. Dale Carnegie's 160 Carnegie Managing Directors around the world have more than 2,700 trainers/consultants who have all undergone at least 18 months of training to become certified in the Carnegie process. Each is also required to take re-certification training annually.
