PTC Q1 net profit up 63 pc at Rs 11.3 cr

POWER trading major PTC India Ltd (PTC) has announced a 63 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 11.31 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal. The company has, however, reported a 10-per-cent dip in the total income at Rs 443.97 crore during the three-month period with the volumes traded during the period dipping by 621 million units to 1,523 mu, according to a release issued by the company.

The profit before depreciation, interest and tax went up 29 per cent at Rs 14.85 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 11.48 crore.

According to the company, the volumes during the quarter showed a continuation of the trend of lower marketable surpluses available with the States in the eastern coastal region, where hydro availability continued to be constrained during the pre-monsoon months. Other income at Rs 6.68 crore (Rs 1.45 crore) was up 3.5 times.

The company scrip, which opened at Rs 42.50 per share on the BSE, ended the day higher at Rs 44.05.
