MPS Tech eyes publishers with content delivery platform

Raja Simhan T E

Chennai , July 15

MPS Technologies, a technology company of Macmillan India, is building a content delivery platform (CDP) out of its Gurgaon (Haryana) software development centre to help publishers across the world to publish various research papers on the Web.

The company also plans to expand its Gurgaon centre from the present 50 employees to 150 by the year-end, according to Mr Ravi Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO), MPS Technologies, which was launched in October 2004.

The Web platform is a system that delivers online content to users on the Internet, and has a capacity to handle about three billion hits a month. The platform will be a one-stop-solution for publishers and can deliver and integrate any e-content, including journal articles, database content, newspaper content, images, audio, video streaming and software downloads, he told Business Line.

The company's Web platform offers publishers access control system capable of supporting a wide range of business models. This includes integration with publisher's subscription management system to deliver real time e-commerce and functionality to allow users to find the content they need through linking and searching.

"Individual companies need not waste money in creating their own platform, and instead use our platform for a fee," he said.

MPS Technologies has also launched ScholarlyStats aimed at the library market and provides usage statistics consolidation service. ScholarlyStats helps librarians to understand and analyse their usage data and make the best budgeting decisions for the library using the information provided by the usage reports, said Mr David Sommer, Commercial Director, MPS Technologies.

According to Mr Singh, MPS Technologies is aiming at revenues of Rs 15-20 crore for the current fiscal. He declined to give further financial details.
