Chennai, July 15

SATYAM Computer Services has launched Futurus, a business solutions lab with facilities to design and simulate future business scenarios while experimenting with various technology alternatives.

The lab will enable customers get a snapshot of what their future business environment will look like, according to Mr G.B. Prabhat, Director (Consulting and Enterprise Solutions).

Mr Joe Drouin, Vice-President and CIO, TRW Automotive Holdings, one of the largest clients of the Hyderabad-based IT company, inaugurated the lab.

Around 70 employees were currently working in the lab and this number would increase to around 300 in the near future, Mr Prabhat told newspersons.

He refused to give the investment made on the lab located at Tidel Park.

The lab helps clients with potential information to strategise and reduce risks on business and technology-related decisions and investments.

The lab will combine Satyam's domain expertise with capabilities in consulting and enterprise application deployment to showcase future scenarios, he said.

Customers can simulate and test their future designs and business simulation. For instance, future technologies such as RFID (radio frequency identification) and composite applications can be combined with applications such as ERP, CRM, and supply chain management to simulate future scenarios.

"This can be done considering future trends such as mergers and acquisitions and large-scale business process changes."

Satyam's technology partners such as Adobe Systems, Cast Iron Systems, G-LOG, and Pegasystems have confirmed their interest in participating in Futurus, which has been doing pilot projects in the last three months.

"These partners would provide their technology and license to experiment in the lab," Mr Prabhat said.

According to Mr Rama Raju, co-Founder and Managing Director, the company has taken up a new facility on the Old Mahabalipuram Road to accommodate around 1,000 employees.

Out of 20,000 employees that the company employs globally, 4,000 are in Chennai, he added.
