PM's visit will strengthen Indo-US ties: Assocham poll

THE Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh's forthcoming visit to the US will usher in a new era of economic co-operation between the two large democracies and strengthen their economic, political, educational, and scientific linkages, according to all the CEOs polled by Assocham ahead of the trip.

The poll, which carried the observations of top representatives of 100 leading companies, concluded that the visit will prove to be an important milestone in firming strategic relations between India and the US even in the area of Defence.

The poll found that 75 per cent of CEOs held that economic and commercial integration of the two economies would sharpen to the optimum when Dr Singh and the US President, Mr George Bush, will conclude their parleys. The poll also found that 50 per cent of the CEOs were of the view that co-operation in science, education, and culture would intensify, and 33 per cent indicated that India would be the beneficiary of transfer of technologies in various areas of joint collaborations.

Ninety per cent believed that strong Indo-US ties will be a source of peace and stability in Asia as well as in other parts of the world.
