Indo Gulf Q1 net up at Rs 9.4 cr

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Indo Gulf Fertilisers Ltd has reported a 17.5 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 9.4 crore for the June 2005 quarter against Rs 8 crore in the year-ago period.

Net sales for the quarter moved up by 8.6 per cent to Rs 102.9 crore (Rs 94.7 crore). Other income was Rs 3 crore (Rs 6.5 crore). Sale of urea at 1.66 lakh tonnes was higher by 17 per cent over the corresponding period in the previous year.

During the quarter the company produced 2.54 lakh tonnes of urea. Demand for urea looks encouraging on the back of the Indian Meteorological Department's prediction that monsoon would be normal.

The company said its application to the Government for debottlenecking of its urea capacity from 2,620 tonnes per day to 3,360 tonnes is awaiting clearance. It expects this approval to come through in the near future.
