Corporation Bank to celebrate centenary with development activities

CORPORATION Bank has planned various developmental activities as part of the centenary year programme, according to the Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, Mr V.K. Chopra.

He was speaking at a function to handover an ambulance to St Joseph's Prashanth Nivas in Mangalore on Saturday. Helpage India, with assistance from Corporation Bank, donated an ambulance to the nivas on the occasion.

As a part of centenary year programmes, the bank will set up a high-tech library in Mangalore. Apart from this, it will also set up libraries in 100 villages. Meritorious students in those villages will be given scholarships, he said.

Mr Chopra said that the bank has donated Rs 10 lakh for construction of a floor in district hospital at Udupi and for a dining hall in Abhaya Ashraya - a home for the elderly citizens in Mangalore.

Corporation Bank has been consistently associating itself with the two service organisations - Helpage India and CRY - for the last four years. In total, the bank has contributed Rs 75 lakh to these service organsiations since 2001-02, he added.

Mr A. Mohan Rao, General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mr Edwin Babu, Deputy Director of Helpage India, and Ms S.N. Sandhya, Manager of Helpage India, Bangalore, were present on the occasion.
