AP to set up overseas manpower corpn soon

THE State Government has decided to set up an organisation called `Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) to prepare and find jobs for rural youth in foreign countries.

The new organisation seeks to eliminate unauthorised and unscrupulous private placement agencies that fleece the job seekers.

Reviewing the activities of the Department of Employment here on Friday, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said the proposed corporation would provide the unemployed rural youth with skills to improve their capacities.

It would also help in aspects like personality development and language skills.

The Government also decided to launch a special scheme for beedi workers. About 2,000 houses would be constructed in Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts. The Chief Minister approved a proposal for upgradation of five Industrial Training Institutes into Centres of Excellence at a cost of Rs eight crore. He also approved a proposal that sought to set up mobile courts for elimination of child labour in the State.
