Alagappa for Chinese tie-up

MADURAI: Alagappa University, Karaikudi, has plans to enter into a tie-up with five Chinese universities for exchange of teachers and students. The first round of talks has been completed. After identification of areas of interest and the methodology of exchange, an agreement is likely to be signed either in September or October.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr P. Kanniappan, the Chinese Universities are interested to learn English, Computer Science, Management, Biochemistry, Physical Education and Women Studies. Alagappa University is also interested in giving an exposure to Chinese institutions for their students and staff, he added.

The University would soon be starting its distance education centre at Beijing, sources said.
