IFCS Karachi meet takes up expansion

Madurai , July 18

THE International Federation of Company Secretaries (IFCS) held its second governing body meeting in Karachi, Pakistan, recently.

According to Mr Ravi, President, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and also the President of IFCS, the meeting was held to devise a positive action plan to create worldwide recognition and visibility of the profession and to impress upon respective governments to move the WTO forum for the inclusion of company secretarial services under a separate head in the WTO Services Sectoral Classification.

The meeting also discussed the expansion of the profession and building a brand image, explore the possibilities for exchange programmes for students, grant mutual exemption in examination papers and mutual recognition, start exchanging publications, start research on corporate governance, strengthen the corporate legal and regulatory framework in countries, rise educational and training standards of member institutes.

Mr Pir Muhammad A. Kaliya, President, Mr Nizammudin, Vice-President, Mr Qaiser Mufti, Vice-President, the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan, Mr Aka Muktadir, President, Mr Mohd. Sanaullah, senior Vice-President, Mr Mohammad Asad Ullah, Vice-President, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Managers of Bangladesh, Mr Charles K. Wachira, Chairman, Mr Joshua W. Wambua, Chief Executive Secretary, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, also attended the meeting in Karachi, a press release said.
