New Delhi , July 18

AZERBAIJAN Airlines, the national airline of Azerbaijan, on Monday started a twice-a-week flight on the Delhi-Baku sector.

Addressing a press conference to announce the start of the flight, the airlines' Country Manager, Mr Khanlar Karimov, said the new service would provide easy connections to passengers wanting to reach several destinations in Europe including London.

"We hope to operate four flights a week between Delhi and Baku later this year.

Besides, the airline is also planning to start a freighter service from September this year," Mr Karimov said.

The airline is to operate a Boeing 757 aircraft that will offer 180 seats, including 22 seats in business class, on every flight between Delhi and Baku.

The airline is also in negotiation with several domestic airlines including Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Air Sahara to provide greater connectivity within India to its passengers.
