Outlook DaimlerChrysler to launch Actros by year-end Our Bureau
Pune , July 18 FOR the current calendar year, the only vehicle that would be launched from the stables of DaimlerChrysler India would be the imported CBU - Actros. The expected launch date for the vehicle is the last quarter of the current calendar year. Talking to presspersons, Mr Suhas Kadlaskar, Director, Corporate Affairs and Finance, said the company would be coming out with two models - the 33-tonner and the 40-tonner. Work on the second model in the 40-tonner, the 4840, has already begun, he said. Both the models would be completely CBU and was looking at sales of about 100 to 200 vehicles per annum. He said the pricing of the vehicle was yet to be decided and manufacturing of this in Pune was not likely to happen. Asked about the sales of Mercedes Benz, he said for the first six months, it had sold about 1,053 cars as compared to 923 vehicles last year. On Maybach, the Rs 6-crore car launched last year in the country, Mr Kadlaskar said about three vehicles had been sold so far. The company had estimated sales of around seven to eight vehicles for the first year of its launch. However, on the flip side, he added, the other cars in the luxury segment had got a boost as most of the customers decided to go in `for the second best'.
