Panel being set up to study PRC recommendations

Hyderabad , July 18

THE Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to constitute a three-member committee to the study the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations with a mandate to help finalise the benefits.

The committee will submit its findings within two months.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the State Minister for Information, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir, said along with this major decision, the Government has also decided to secure a Rs 161-crore loan from the Life Insurance Corporation to take up housing projects for the weaker section. The Government also agreed to allot about 13.36 acres of land for the Vedic school in Warangal district.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, condemned certain reports stating that the Anti- Corruption Bureau has indicted the then Endowments Minister, Mr M. Satyanarayana Rao, with regard to sale of endowments land. The report was baseless, he said. On his Delhi visit, he said it had no special objective, but a regular trip. However, the visit assumes importance given the backdrop of the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) leaders tendering resignation from the State Ministerial posts and a major TRS event today, to press for a separate statehood. The NCP leader, Mr Sharad Pawar also took part.

Volkswagen issue: On the Volkswagen issue,Mr Shabbir Ali said that the Cabinet discussed in detail various issues relating to the car deal and the steps that could be taken to ensure that the project comes to the State despite recent issues relating to bribery and other concerns.

The official team designated by the State has managed to secure an appointment with the German automotive company CEO and would seek to convince the company about the Government's steadfast commitment to ensure that the project comes up in the State, the Minister said.

The Government is not so much worried about the Rs 11 crores deposited with the Special Purpose Vehicle created for the car project, since this would be handled by legal experts and through the CBI enquiry. It is in fact keen to see that the project comes through. Therefore, the proposed appointment with the CEO of the car manufacturer assumes importance, Mr Ali said.
