Vizag Entrepreneurs seek incentives to software sector

Our Bureau

Visakhapatnam , July 18

THE Software and Data Entry Entrepreneurs' Association here has urged the State Government to extend support and subsidies to the individual (home-based) software professionals as well to enable them make use of the emerging opportunities in the international market.

Mr D. Ravi Kumar, Honorary President of the association, and other office-bearers said at a press meet here on Saturday, that the Government was only encouraging the corporates in the field and ignoring the small-timers.

"We formed into an association and approached the Government, but our request was rejected. We were even denied registration in the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) registration on the ground that associations were not entitled to it," he complained.

He said the role of the small and medium entrepreneurs should not be overlooked.

He said the banks should also be instructed to act responsibly in respect of letters of credit and bank guarantees to prevent fraud.

Radical changes in the banking system were needed, he said.
