Bangkok market gains boost sheet rubber

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , July 20

SHEET rubber RSS 4 moved up again to Rs 67 a kg from Rs 66.50 on enquiries from the covering groups and purchase agents.

The bull run of the day was led by a sharp gain in RSS 3 to Rs 75.71 from Rs 73.84 a kg at the Bangkok spot market. The transactions were in a low key as there were no quantum sellers or buyers at the quoted levels. Exporters preferred to stay on the sidelines, though the difference between the domestic and international prices appeared still comfortable.

Meanwhile, ISNR 20 closed steady, but latex declined sharply on low demand.

The NMCE rubber futures turned weak as the leading Japanese markets were in a bearish mode on Wednesday. The August contract was quoted at Rs 66.41 (Rs 66.68), September contract at Rs 63.35 (Rs 63.70), October contract at Rs 60.63 (Rs 61.04) and November contract at Rs 59.21 (Rs 59.80) per kg for RSS 4.

The August futures for RSS 3 slipped to 201.4 yen against 202.6 yen a kg at TOCOM.

The spot rubber pricesper kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 67 (Rs 66.50); RSS-5: Rs 64 (Rs 63.50); ungraded: Rs 61 (Rs 60.50); ISNR 20: Rs 60 (Rs 60); and latex 60%: Rs 41.00 (Rs 42.00).
