New Delhi , July 20

GERMAN airline Lufthansa plans to offer the `Star Chef' menu that would provide passengers a dining experience at 30,000 feet in the sky akin to what they would experience in a restaurant on its flights from Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai from September 1 this year, General Manager, Passenger Sales, India, Mr Werner Heesen, said here.

The new culinary initiatives include the enhancement of the existing meals and a meal brochure designed to advise passengers on the range and the process for ordering the same. Available to First and Business Class passengers, three different menu selections would be offered that will be rotated every two months. A total of 66 dishes for the First Class and 44 for the Business Class will be available on the menu.

To introduce the Star Chefs concept in India, Mr Hemant Oberoi, Chef de Cuisine, Taj Hotel, Mumbai, has been named as the Star Chef from India. Speaking at the briefing, Mr Heesen said, "India is one of Lufthansa's fastest growing markets and it is our aim to further enhance the service we offer to our Indian passengers."
