Airlines Condor plans seasonal flights to Goa, Kochi Ashwini Phadnis
New Delhi , July 20 CONDOR Airline, a part of the Lufthansa Group, plans to operate flights to Goa and Kochi later this year, senior airline officials have said. "The new air services bilateral pact agreed to earlier this year between India and Germany provides greater flexibility for airlines like Condor to operate regular schedule flights to these two destinations. This should help the airline as it will be able to sell tickets to passengers who want to travel either on a one-way or a return flight. This is something they are not allowed to do at present," a senior official said. The Condor operations to both these cities are likely to be seasonal and will provide greater flexibility to passengers wanting to connect to more destinations in Germany. "The start of the operations will provide a feeder effect to the passengers because under the new bilateral the airline will be able to offer fares and easier access to interiors of Germany," sources said. The airline used to operate charter flights to Goa and Kochi earlier. Condor, which is the leisure airline of the Lufthansa Group, is likely to utilise the infrastructure of Lufthansa in the two cities. The airline has a fleet that includes both Airbus and Boeing aircraft and flies from Germany to several destinations, including Male, Seychelles, Antigua, Colombo, Orlando and Havana. Officials said that Lufthansa was not looking at operating to Goa and Kochi as it was keen to fly to places where there was passenger demand round the year.
