Mumbai , July 20

MOVING Pictures India Ltd has entered into an agreement with Distant Horizon Ltd, London, and First Take Ltd, London, for the production and international distribution of a feature documentary on Daniel Pearl, the American journalist, who was abducted and killed in Pakistan.

The shooting of the film is already complete and is now under post production in London.

The film is expected to be screened at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2005. "This tie-up will ensure royalty income to the company in perpetuity from international theatrical release, as well as TV and DVD sales worldwide," the company said.

The exclusive terrestrial rights in Hindi and all Indian regional languages of the company's 10-part 3D animated show `Jungle Tales' - based on the Panchtantra tales have been acquired by Doordarshan. This is the first original 3D Animation show produced by an Indian company, which will be telecast on Doordarshan.

The company has also been nominated by the Ministry of Culture to produce a 90-minute telefilm on late Prime Minister Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri to commemorate his birth centenary celebrations this year.

As part of its expansion plans the company plans to invest up to Rs 15 crore in its TV studio infrastructure for the launch of its city specific channel, Dilli One - for which the company has already received the up-linking licence from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

The expansion will be undertaken in two phases - in the first phase it will set up TV studio infrastructure on its existing premises at the Film City, Noida, with a view to launch Dilli One; in the second phase infrastructure for the animations wing will be upgraded by the end of the year.
